The term freight used in the transportation sector when the volume of goods are loaded on the vehicles used to transport the load via land links such as the semi-trailer, trailer, truck or train.

However, a freight can also be shipped via plane and ship but during that journey, it will be called as cargo. It has many type of goods including products, and merchandises. Most cargo being transported can be referred as freight when it lands on the airport or dry port.

Mail services may also be called the cargo rather than freight and load called cargo mail. Containers are usually used to transport goods called cargo containers when in the sea and called freight containers when on land.
